Topics: Neighborhood cleanup HEB Coming Trees for Parmer Lane

*******************************************************************

The Copperfield Neighborhood Organization will have a neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, October 28 at 9 a.m. Mark your calendars and come and help us clean up along Yager Lane, or in your own part of Copperfield if you prefer. We will meet at Yager and Thompkins (near the store) at 9 a.m. We will provide safety vests and bags for you to use. You can help with the cleanup for as long as you want, and most help out for about 1-2 hours. These cleanups really make a difference in the appearance of Yager Lane. Please come and help us keep our neighborhod looking good.

According to an article in the September 21 Austin American Statesman, HEB plans to construct a grocery store at Parmer Lane and Interstate 35 next year. A large amount of other development is planned at the same intersection, including restaurants and stores.

A few days ago a Copperfield resident was interviewed by News 8 Austin about the lack of trees on Parmer Lane. The city of Austin and Treefolks (treefolks.org) are regularly planting trees around Austin, but will not be placing any in our area this year. Our area desperately needs some trees, such as in the Parmer median and perhaps along Dessau. Help us to get trees in our area! Please allow us to put your name and address on a letter we will send to the city’s Parks, Recreation & Forestry department. This will place our neighborhood next in line for tree planting. We hope it will be done next fall. To be placed on the petition, just respond to this email and give us your name and address. If you have a particular opinion on where the trees should be placed, tell us. After we get your response, we will place your name on our petition. This information will not be used for any other purpose. When the trees are planted, Copperfield residents will have the opportunity to help as volunteers.
