The next CNO meeting will be held near the end of January. This meeting will include elections for CNO officers for next year. Please attend this meeting. The year end is coming. CNO memberships will soon expire. CNO will work to improve and protect our neighborhood in the year 2000. If possible, bring a check or cash to pay your dues for year 2000 at the meeting. CNO dues are $12 per year.

Zoning and Development

A number of sites are under construction now.

The foundation has been laid for a Renaissance Inn by Marriott on Lamar at Parmer.

TXDOT is constructing an office and yard on the south side of Parmer near the end of Copperfield Drive.

A site plan has been approved for a new building for the Highpoint Baptist Church on land they own directly south of the current church. This 45 acre tract of land fronting Dessau Road, south of Yager was recently rezoned from SF-2 (single family) to MF-3 (multifamily). This will allow the southern tract of this site to be developed with apartments. Entrance to a new church and the apartments will be off Dessau. An alliance of neighborhood organizations has been working with the developer and has come to an agreement about unit density and wastewater management.

Other recent zoning issues include the 12 acre parcel fronted on the west by IH-35 and on the north by Yager. After reviewing a mandatory traffic analysis the city has agreed to a Community Commercial Zoning. From the information in the Traffic Analysis it appears that this site will include: one or more fast food restaurants, a convenience store, 35,000 sq. ft. shopping center, and a hardware store of approximately 157,000 sq ft.
